Chatsworth Gallery Room 30

Artist:  Tyrone Johnson

"Five years ago, I met a friend who awakened my artistic abilities, and was able to bring it out in me. After showing him some of the, what I called, doodling  he gave me a water colour set and ask me utilize them and told me that he felt I was much more artistic than I could see. He was a established artist so believed that he could see something, but after being teased in elementary school about my stick figures I did not think I was an artist. Anyway, I took the water colour set and used it. Shortly after I found that water colour was not my medium, but I could do some wonderful abstract work with acrylic and oils. So I would say that these are my mediums, oils and acrylic. That was one of the greatest experiences I have had in my life. I have been painting with a passion from that moment on. I am now exhibiting in places like Armory Museum of Arts in old town Pasadena I have exhibited at the Armory twice in two subsequent years. They really enjoyed my
bold and expressive use of colour. I have also exhibited at the Equator Art Gallery in old town Pasadena, one of the most fun shows was the old town jazz festival there was so many artist of all kinds there. I will always remember that summer exhibit through out my art career. I had a private showing at Lucy Florence Gallery, Hollywood CA, for all of my private collectors. My upcoming events are going to be at Pomona University Art Museum, December 19, 2000. In January I will be showing at the Gordon Biersch Museum, Pasadena, January 26, 2000. I now look at that experience that I had in elementary school as just a experience, and I can take the wall down that separated me from being creative thanks to all of you that have come to view my art".
